The vanguard nature of Party members refers to the essential attribute of Chinese Communist Party members to always stay at the forefront of the times in ideology, politics, organization, work style, and discipline, and to play a pioneering and exemplary role. Its core connotations include: firm ideals and beliefs, namely faith in Marxism and belief in socialism with Chinese characteristics; the purpose consciousness of serving the people wholeheartedly; strict self-discipline and a sense of discipline; and the spirit of the times characterized by courage to take responsibility and innovate. In the new era, the vanguard nature of Party members is specifically manifested in: taking the lead in theoretical study, deeply understanding the Party's innovative theories; striving for excellence in job performance, serving the overall development with practical achievements; actively acting in serving the masses, solving their urgent and difficult problems; stepping forward in critical and dangerous tasks, playing a backbone and leading role. Maintaining the vanguard nature of Party members requires continuous strengthening of Party spirit cultivation, through self-purification, self-improvement, self-innovation, and self-enhancement via intra-Party political life exercises, thematic education practices, and criticism and self-criticism. The co-building seminar between the Mangxu Software Party Branch and the Eighth Party Branch of the Jiangsu Vocational College of Architecture's Organs is a vivid practice of implementing the vanguard nature of Party members into concrete actions by exchanging frontier issues and striving to be vanguards of the times.
