As a key university in Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Normal University is committed to exploring smart campus solutions to enhance teaching management efficiency and the quality of talent cultivation. In 2016, the university entered into a strategic partnership with [Partner Company] to jointly establish a mobile campus laboratory, aiming to drive mobile application development and educational informatization innovation through university-enterprise collaboration.
Cooperation Process
In the early stages of the partnership, both parties focused on building the laboratory's infrastructure, investing resources to establish a mobile application development platform. Subsequently, the laboratory progressively introduced project-based teaching, with enterprise engineers and university faculty providing joint mentorship while student teams participated in developing real-world campus applications. For example, they developed a mobile campus card application and an intelligent course schedule recommendation system. Throughout the collaboration, both parties regularly hosted technical salons and achievement showcases to facilitate knowledge sharing and iterative improvement.
Problems Solved
- Difficulty in applying technology in practice: Traditional teaching places heavy emphasis on theory, leaving students with limited hands-on experience. The laboratory provides real-world project scenarios, allowing students to participate in the entire process from requirements analysis to deployment and operations, thereby strengthening their technical application capabilities.
- Siloed resources: Data across various campus systems was fragmented. Through mobile application integration, interoperability was achieved among academic affairs, logistics, library, and other systems, improving management efficiency.
- Mismatch between talent supply and demand: Corporate involvement in curriculum design ensures that teaching content aligns with industry needs, enabling graduates to quickly adapt to their roles after entering the workforce.
Results Achieved
As of 2024, the laboratory has incubated 5 campus mobile applications, serving over 30,000 students and faculty members. Students who participated in the projects have seen a significant boost in employment competitiveness, with the employment rate for graduates in related majors rising from 85% to 95%. In addition, the smart campus solutions developed by the laboratory have been adopted by multiple peer institutions, contributing to the advancement of regional educational informatization.
